This proof gold coin was minted to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Congress under the Constitution. The coin program also included a silver dollar and a clad half dollar.
The obverse shows the Capitol dome. The reverse shows the image of the eagle that was seen in the old Senate chamber. Both sides were designed by John Mercanti.
This coin was minted in West Point and was graded as PF70 Ultra Cameo by NGC.
