This proof gold coin was minted to commemorate the XXVI Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. There were a total of 16 different coins minted in this program including silver, gold, and clad coins.
The obverse shows an Olympic runner with a torch and the Atlanta skyline in the background. The reverse shows an eagle in profile. Both sides were designed by John Mercanti and Frank Gasparro.
This coin was minted in West Point and was graded as PF70 Ultra Cameo by NGC.
