1999 was an incredible year for coins. It was the launch year of the Statehood Quarter Series which is responsible for bringing more collectors into the hobby than any other program in history. This particular collecting option is the 1999 $10 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle. The mintage was only 546,232 units and as of 1/13/2023 only 336 coins have ever achieved the NGC grade of perfect MS70. There simply is not enough of these to go around to the number of collectors building gold eagle collections. This coin has been hand signed by Miley Frost (Busiek), the designer of the "Family of Eagle" reverse design making it more rare by comparison.
