2006 $5 Gold Eagle NGC MS70 Red Label First Strikes
2006 marks the 20th anniversary of the gold eagle! To mark this special occasion the United States Mint introduced new collector versions of the coins but many still wanted the classic mint state gold coins.
The obverse or head if the coin shows lady liberty. Her figure walks forward with her torch high above her head in her right hand, while her left hand clutches an olive branch.
The reverse or tails design of the coin was down by Miley Busiek. Found exclusively on the American Gold Eagle, this image depicts a family of eagles that includes a male, female, and hatchling at their nest.
This coin is perfect MS70 grade in a red label and one of the first struck by the mint in 2006!
