2011 P 9/11 10th Anniversary of September 11th Memorial Silver Medal PCGS PR70 First Strike with Book
Honoring America's Heroes
Authorized under the National September 11 Memorial & Museum Commemorative Medal Act of 2010, the 9/11 National Medal was struck in honor of the countless American heroes of that fateful day and to provide financial support to establish and maintain of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center site.
The obverse features a poignant depiction of Lady Liberty raising the Lamp of Remembrance with two vertical beams of light in the background, symbolizing the Twin Towers along with the inscription ALWAYS REMEMBER along the rim.
The reverse depicts a soaring eagle with outstretched wings—representing the strength of the survivors, their families and the nation—its head turned downward reverently admiring the inscriptions HONOR and HOPE. In the background, a waterfall pattern reminiscent of the one-acre memorial at the foot the Twin Towers, symbolizes peace, serenity and the continuity of life.
