The obverse features a poignant depiction of Lady Liberty raising the Lamp of Remembrance with two vertical beams of light in the background, symbolizing the Twin Towers along with the inscription ALWAYS REMEMBER along the rim.
The reverse depicts a soaring eagle with outstretched wings?representing the strength of the survivors, their families and the nation?its head turned downward reverently admiring the inscriptions HONOR and HOPE. In the background, a waterfall pattern reminiscent of the one-acre memorial at the foot the Twin Towers, symbolizes peace, serenity and the continuity of life.
