In 2020, a new program was introduced to the market as a follow up to the widely successful Statehood Quarter series, called the Lost States of America program. The designs of the statehood quarters told the stories of all 50 states, but the stories that have never been told are the stories of the Lost States. The Lost States are territories that came close to joining the union, but their proposals did not make the cut. These are the long forgotten stories of states that never became like Texlahoma, Transylvania, Patomic and Lower California to mention a few.
Issued out of the Cook Islands, these legal tender silver dollars will be released 4 per year, for 5 years totaling a 20-coin series. The first 4 coins in the series were struck in 2020, and consist of the State of McDonald, the State of Franklin, the State of Deseret and the State of Jacinto. We have available the 4-coin silver set that includes each of the 4 states released in 2020. Each coin is graded a near perfect PF69 UCAM by NGC with the First Day of Issue designation. In addition, each label is hand-signed by U.S. Mint designer, Joel Iskowitz. Currently he is credited with 54 U.S. Mint designs which puts him second to the popular, John M. Mercanti.
