First-Ever Ultra-High Relief Reverse Proof! This impressive Canadian Peace Dollar boasts a design that debuted on the reverse of the 2019 Peace & Liberty Medals. Created by Susan Taylor, retired senior engraver of the Royal Canadian Mint, this design boasts the incredible detail that only a master’s hand can create.
This design is very similar in its layout to the 1921-1935 Peace Dollar obverse design created by Anthony de Francisci 100 years ago and is a perfect fit for this new Canadian Peace Dollar program.
In order to show the stunning design in a fresh light, the 2021 Peace Dollar is treated with a special reverse proof finish. A first for the series, reverse proof finishes carry all of the benefits of a traditional proof coin – multiple strikes; clean, sharp designs; frosted and polished finishes – yet with a distinct twist. Instead of the typical polished fields and frosted devices, these effects are literally reversed, with the fields frosted and the devices polished. The effect is always stunning, but particularly when combined with an ultra-high relief finish. Includes original government packaging (OGP).
