Named for its long, distinctively shaped tail, the wedge-tailed eagle is found throughout mainland Australia. With an impressive wingspan that can reach nearly 9 feet wide, the Wedge-Tailed Eagle is Australia's largest bird of prey and also one of the largest eagles in the world!
In 2014, Australia's world renowned Perth Mint teamed up with the world renowned coin designer John Mercanti to create the iconic and wildly popular Silver Wedge Tailed Eagle Series! Each coin issued is legal tender of Australia and is struck from .9999 fine silver! Known for low mintages, Mercanti's brilliant designs and the Perth Mint's exceptional production quality, The Australian Silver Wedge-Tailed Eagle has quickly become one of the most popular, most collected coins in the world!
The 2021 Wedge-Tailed Eagle has a brand new, one year only reverse design featuring a close up view of an eagle as it carries it's next meal, a snake. The design follows last year's issue which portrayed the eagle swooping down to catch it's prey. The obverse design, like years past, depicts an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Each coin is struck at the Perth Mint and has a limited mintage of just 50,000 coins!
This 2021 P $1 Wedge-Tailed Eagle has been certified a perfect MS70 First Day of Issue by NGC!! In addition the label has been hand signed by the designer John Mercanti!
