This coin is part of a series dedicated to Australia’s largest bird of prey, the Wedge-Tailed Eagle, that began in 2014. Each coin in the series has featured designs by John Mercanti.
The obverse (heads) side of the coin features the profile of Queen Elizabeth II facing right. Her name and “AUSTRALIA” are inscripted above her and below are the words “2 DOLLARS”.
The reverse (tails) side of the coin features a Wedge-Tailed Eagle in flight, with a snake in its talons. The words “AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE” are inscripted above the eagle and “2021 2 oz .9999 SILVER” is below the eagle. On the left side, the letter “P” denotes that the coin was minted at the Perth Mint.
