Collectors have been waiting with bated breath for more than a year ever since the Mint announced that it would be changing the reverse design on the Silver Eagle. The retirement of Mercanti’s iconic Heraldic Eagle has opened the door for the next generation of designers and engravers. The new Silver Eagle reverse, designed by Emily Damstra and engraved by Michael Gaudioso, displays a full image of a Bald Eagle coming in for a landing with an oak branch held in its talons to build to its nest.
