The Type-2 design of the Silver American Eagle program continues with the release of the new 2022 San Francisco struck Proof Silver Eagle. High demand is expected not only for the chance to own an S mint mark proof Silver Eagle, but also due to its incredibly low mintage. Compared to the 2022 West Point Proof mintage figure of just over 630,000, the San Francisco issue is a fraction of that figure at just 200,000 units. Since the US Mint brought back the San Francisco proof issue for annual production in 2018, it has been a crowd favorite among Silver Eagle collectors. Michael Gaudioso engraved the reverse type-2 design by Emily Damstra. The Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman is displayed on the obverse since 1986 when the program launched.
