The second year issue of the Type-2 design of the Silver American Eagle program continues with the release of the new 2022 San Francisco struck Proof Silver Eagle featuring a S mint mark. Very high demand is anticipated not only for the chance to own an S mint mark proof Silver Eagle, but also due to its incredibly low mintage of just 200k. When compared to the 2022 West Point Proof mintage figure of just over 630,000, the San Francisco issue is a fraction of that number at just 200,000 units. Since the US Mint returned the San Francisco proof issue for annual production back in 2018, it has been a favorite among Silver Eagle collectors. Michael Gaudioso engraved the reverse type-2 design by Emily Damstra. The Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman is displayed on the obverse since the beginning of the program in 1986.
