Celebrate a decade of numismatic brilliance with the 2024 Wedge Tailed Eagle Proof Coins. This special 10th anniversary collection, designed by the renowned John Mercanti, former 12th Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint and struck by Australia's prestigious Perth Mint, marks a new chapter in coin design.
Carefully struck from 24-karat gold in High Relief, this 2024 $100 1oz Proof Gold Wedge Tailed Eagle has a limited mintage of merely 500 and is certified by NGC as First Day of Issue with a flawless grade of PF 70 ULTRA CAMEO, sealed with the Australian flag label, hand-signed by John Mericanti.
The obverse design depicts the first definitive portrait of King Charles III for Australia, making this one of the first Wedge Tailed Eagles to feature King Charles III's effigy. In addition, the design features a miniature 2014 Wedge Tailed Eagle design (Mercanti's first Wedge Tailed Eagle design) above King Charles III. This privy mark is exclusive to the 2024 Proof Wedge Tailed Eagles.
The reverse design proudly displays a dynamic depiction of a Wedge Tailed Eagle in flight. The magnificent bird soars amid stylized sun rays, emphasizing the bird's majesty and strength. The high-relief surface enhances the design, creating a bold, sculptural depth that makes the eagle almost leap off the coin.
The coin's reverse also includes the inscription "10TH ANNIVERSARY" alongside a special "P125" mintmark, celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint, adding another layer of collectability.
