The 2024 Proof Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coin is the biggest release of 2024! Struck from 1 oz of .9999 fine gold (24-karat) in high relief, this commemorative coin celebrates the 230th anniversary of the first dollar coin issued by the United States Federal Government—the 1794 Flowing Hair Dollar. This coin is a faithful replica of Robert Scot's original design with an updated "2024" date, maintaining the classic design that marked a pivotal moment in American numismatic history.

Coin Design

  • Obverse - The obverse showcases a faithful rendition of Robert Scot's bust of Liberty with flowing hair, encircled by 15 stars representing the states that had ratified the Constitution by 1794. The flowing hair symbolizes freedom, while the stars reflect the unity of a young nation.
  • Reverse - The reverse features an eagle with its wings spread, surrounded by a laurel wreath, symbolizing strength, peace, and victory.

David J. Ryder Signature

Each coin comes sealed with NGC's U.S. Director label, hand-signed by former U.S. Mint Director David J. Ryder. Graded by NGC as PF 70 ULTRA CAMEO and certified as Advance Releases, each coin has received a flawless grade in NGC's highest pedigree.

Low Mintage

This limited-edition commemorative coin has a mintage limit of only 17,500. With such a low mintage, this coin is one of the most sought-after commemorative releases of the year.

Exceptional Craftsmanship

Struck from 1 oz of .9999 fine gold (24-karat) in high relief, this coin was crafted at the West Point Mint with a stunning proof cameo finish. The high-relief strike enhances the design's intricate details, with the frosted details standing out against a mirror-like background. The denomination "HUNDRED CENTS ONE DOLLAR OR UNIT" is also incused on the edge.

Flowing Hair Dollar Series

Minted for only two years (1794-1795), the Flowing Hair Dollar was the first dollar coin the U.S. Federal Government issued. It was designed by Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint Robert Scot. Of the 2,000 coins struck in 1794, only 1,758 were released for circulation, making the coin a rare piece of American history. This limited-edition commemorative gold coin honors that momentous occasion and celebrates the original Flowing Hair Dollar.
