The 2025 W Proof Platinum Eagle continues the U.S. Mint's tradition of excellence with a brilliant design, low mintage, and premium certification. Struck in 99.95% platinum at the West Point Mint, this issue is the final coin in a meaningful five-year series honoring the First Amendment.
Obverse — A fully matured oak tree between the inscription "WITH THE RIGHT TO PETITION LIBERTY ENDURES," designed by Donna Weaver. As a powerful symbol of endurance, the oak represents the fifth and final freedom in the First Amendment series.
Reverse — A bald eagle in flight with an olive branch in its talons—symbolizing peace, strength, and forward momentum, designed by Don Everhart.
Each coin features a label hand-signed by former U.S. Mint Engraver and longtime member of the Mint's Artistic Infusion Program, Donna Weaver. With a career spanning decades, Weaver has contributed to numerous U.S. coin and medal designs, earning a reputation as one of the Mint's most respected artists.
First released in 1997, the American Platinum Eagle was issued in both bullion and proof versions, with bullion production ending in 2023. The bullion coins featured a fixed design by John Mercanti and Thomas D. Rogers and were offered in fractional denominations through 2008. Meanwhile, the proof version introduced a new reverse design each year through 2017. In 2018, Don Everhart's soaring eagle reverse became standard, with new obverse designs issued annually. From 2021 through 2025, the Platinum Eagle has reflected the five freedoms from the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
