1986 $10 Gold Eagle NGC MS70 First Year of Issue Label
1985 Ronald Reagan signed the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985 into law. The following year the United States Mint officially released the American Gold Eagle. During its inaugural year, we saw a 1oz proof and mint state coin as well as three mint state fractionals release.
The design depicts Lady Liberty walking confidently against the sun’s rays, carrying a torch and an olive branch. The reverse of the coin shows a pristine male bald eagle in flight carrying an olive branch to his nest, where a female eagle and her young are perched.
This coin is a 1986 $10 Gold Eagle with a First Year of Issue Label. First Year of Issue labels are rarely seen due to the lengthy process of introducing a new coin to the United States Mint.
