1988 W $5 Proof Gold Eagle NGC PF70 UCAM
The proof version of the American gold eagle is the collector’s choice of coins when it comes to gold collecting. The United States Mint usually mints their proof coins at the West Point mint but some earlier dates were minted in Philadelphia. The 1988 Gold Eagle fractionals are part of that select group that bear a “P” mint mark.
The design depicts Lady Liberty walking confidently against the sun’s rays, carrying a torch and an olive branch. The reverse of the coin shows a pristine male bald eagle in flight carrying an olive branch to his nest, where a female eagle and her young are perched.
This 1/10 oz $5 Gold Eagle has an exceptional eye appeal due to its Ultra Cameo designations as well as the fact it is a perfect coin. Graded an PF70 by NGC.
