The Silver Morgan Dollar is responsible for bringing more collectors into the numismatic market than any other coin in history. Designed by George T. Morgan, the coin weighs in at 26.73 grams of 90% silver and 10% Copper. The obverse features the Lady Liberty design while the reverse depicts an eagle's wings spread over the olive branch. The dollar was authorized by the Bland-Allison Act and was produced from 1878 to 1904, and again in 1921. The Morgan Dollar has been produced at several Mint locations, including Philadelphia, San Francisco, Carson City, New Orleans and Denver. The vast majority of Morgan Dollars were struck in Mint State; however some proofs were also produced. The Morgan Dollar has long been a favorite series of collectors around the word with some 95 different versions in all.
