The 1776-2026 W Enhanced Uncirculated Silver Eagle is the first-ever Type 2 American Silver Eagle struck with an enhanced uncirculated finish. Previously used only once in 2013, it is among the most limited finishes in the series.

Issued during the nation's Semiquincentennial, this coin carries a dual date and the Liberty Bell 250 privy mark. With a mintage limit of 125,000, well below the 2013 enhanced uncirculated issue's 235,689, it pairs a low mintage with a finish used only once before. This combination puts it on the short list of the most desirable modern Silver Eagles.

Enhanced Uncirculated

Enhanced uncirculated coins are struck with greater care than standard uncirculated issues, using specially prepared dies to bring out sharper detail and contrast across the design. The result is a clean, textured look that differs from both standard strikes and proof coins.

Coin Design

  • Obverse — The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman's iconic Walking Liberty, symbolizing freedom and progress. Lady Liberty strides toward the rising sun, draped in the American flag and holding branches of laurel and oak, with her right hand extended. Thanks to advanced minting technology introduced in 2021, more of Weinman's original details are now visible. The Liberty Bell privy mark is located on the obverse and inscribed with "250."  Inscriptions include LIBERTYIN GOD WE TRUST, and 1776-2026, along with Weinman's initials AW.
  • Reverse — The reverse, designed by AIP Designer Emily Damstra and sculpted by U.S. Mint Engraver Michael Gaudioso, depicts a majestic bald eagle preparing to land, clutching an oak branch symbolizing strength, endurance, and freedom. Surrounding inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA1 OZ FINE SILVERONE DOLLAR, and the Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM, meaning "Out of many, one."

Label & Signature

Created for America’s Semiquincentennial, the 1776 Freedom Label draws from the nation’s founding era and is reserved for select 2026 U.S. Mint releases. Each label is hand-signed by Michael Gaudioso, engraver of the Type 2 American Silver Eagle reverse.

Certification & Pedigree

Each coin is certified by NGC as SP 70 Enhanced Finish and designated Advance Releases.

American Silver Eagle Series

Introduced in 1986 under the Liberty Coin Act, the American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States and the most widely collected silver coin in the world. Originally created by John Mercanti, featuring Adolph A. Weinman's Walking Liberty, the series symbolizes American craftsmanship and liberty.

In 2021, the series underwent its first major redesign, featuring an enhanced obverse and a new reverse designed by Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso. This redesign also added advanced security features, ensuring the coin's lasting appeal and integrity for collectors worldwide.
