The 1776-2026 W 1.85 oz Proof Gold Eagle 4-Coin Set marks a defining year for the American Gold Eagle. Issued during the 250th anniversary of the United States, it becomes the first Type 2 Gold Eagle to feature a privy mark and the first time the full fractional lineup has been struck with a privy mark.
To commemorate America's Semiquincentennial, each coin is struck with a dual date for the first time in the series, along with the Liberty Bell Privy. The release also coincides with the 40th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle program.
Struck at the West Point Mint in 22-karat gold, the set contains a combined 1.85 troy ounces of gold in proof finish. Mintage is limited to 15,000.
The four denominations included in the set are:
Each coin in the set is certified by NGC in PF 70 Ultra Cameo and designated Advance Releases, NGC's premier pedigree.
This set features the U.S. Mint Designer Series label, hand-signed by Jennie Norris, the designer of the Type 2 Gold Eagle reverse.
Introduced in 1986 under the Gold Bullion Act of 1985, the American Gold Eagle is the official gold bullion coin of the United States, struck in 22-karat gold sourced from American mines. For 35 years, the series featured Saint-Gaudens' 1907 Double Eagle obverse, paired with Miley Frost (Busiek)'s Family of Eagles reverse. In 2021, the series was redesigned, introducing an enhanced obverse and a striking new reverse designed by Jennie Norris, cementing its status as one of the most iconic gold coins in the world.
