• Obverse – Adolph A. Weinman's iconic portrayal of Liberty striding confidently toward the rising sun, draped in the American flag, carrying branches of laurel and oak.
• Reverse – A majestic eagle with wings raised, perched atop a mountain in a powerful display of strength as a pine sapling emerges from the rock.

Silver Medal Design

• Obverse – Reimagined in the Art Deco style, Liberty extends her right hand toward the rising sun, leading the nation into a brighter future.
• Reverse – An eagle soars above the rolling landscape, continuing the journey toward a brighter future begun on the obverse.

Best of the Mint

For the nation’s 250th anniversary, the United States Mint created the Best of the Mint series featuring five classic designs selected from an original group of 21 candidates spanning more than two centuries of American coinage. The final selections were determined through public input and consultation with curators of the Smithsonian’s National Numismatic Collection. The original coins were carefully studied and photographed before being recreated.
