This commemorative medal issued in honor of the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary is a replica of the sterling silver medallions minted by the Robbins Company, of Attleboro, MA, which were carried by astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr. on the famed space voyage.
Enhanced with a gorgeous antiqued finish, this silver plated copper medal was struck by the Sunshine Mint with a diameter of 39 mm, its mintage limited to 50,000. "APOLLO 11" is inscribed on the obverse, curving over an eagle holding an olive branch in its beak as it prepares to land on the moon's surface. On the reverse "ARMSTRONG-COLLINS-ALDRIN" and "50th ANNIVERSARY" surround the Apollo 11 mission dates, with "1969-2019" below.
