First issued in 1997, the Platinum Eagle has quietly become a favorite among savvy U.S. coin collectors due to the fact that they traditionally have very low mintages.
In 2018, the U.S. Mint created a special three-year series for the Proof Platinum Eagle aptly named 'The Preamble to the Declaration of Independence.' The first coin of the series appeared that year with the beautiful 'Life' design, followed by last years highly anticipated 'Liberty' design. To finish the series in 2020 the U.S. Mint released the 3rd and final issue which is fittingly named 'Happiness'.
It portrays Lady Liberty in the foreground, harvesting the fruits of her labor in a field along with a young girl at play nearby. In the the distance across the field sit a farmhouse and a silo and an adjacent orchard.
Struck at the West Point Mint, this 2020 W $100 Proof Platinum Eagle has been certified a perfect PR70 DCAM First Strike by PCGS! In addition, the label has been hand-signed by the 12th U.S. Mint Chief Mint Engraver, John Mercanti! According to the PCGS pop report this has a PCGS population of ONLY 51!
