The Canada Peace Dollar has quickly become a cornerstone of Canadian numismatics. For 2025, the Royal Canadian Mint has commissioned the series' first-ever design change featuring the work of retired Royal Canadian Mint Senior Engraver Susan Taylor. Rather than starting from scratch, the design features a "zoomed-out" perspective of Taylor's original Peace Dollar design. Lady Peace is showcased in a breathtaking full-body display as she strides along Canada's coastline. This year's release also features the effigy of King Charles III, making it the first Peace Dollar to feature Canada's newly adopted royal portrait. With a dazzling proof finish and exceptionally low mintage, this is a must-have for collectors.

Coin Design

  • Obverse - The obverse features a newly designed effigy of King Charles III, marking his first appearance in the series. The effigy was created by Steven Rosati, an award-winning portrait artist and member of the Portrait Society of Canada. Rosati's design continues Canada's tradition of using a Canadian-designed effigy instead of the "standard" effigy designed by Great Britain's Royal Mint. The inscriptions surrounding King Charles III include "CHARLES III," "CANADA," and "D.G. REX" (Latin abbrev. for "Dei Gratia Rex," meaning "By the Grace of God, King"), and the denomination.
  • Reverse - The reverse features Susan Taylor's new design of Lady Peace gracefully striding along the Canadian coastline, holding an olive wreath—a timeless symbol of peace. As she walks along the shore, maple leaves seem to sprout from her with each step. If you look closely at her head, you will see nearly an exact recreation of the original design found on the Canada Peace Dollars from 2020-2024. Behind this "zoomed-out" version of Lady Peace, a dissipating storm gives way to sunlight, symbolizing peace emerging through turmoil. The sun's rays also resemble a maple leaf, adding a distinctly Canadian touch. Arcing above her is the Canadian motto "A MARI USQUE AD MARE" (Latin, meaning "From Sea to Sea"). The inscriptions "PAX" and "2025" also appear on the reverse.

Steven Rosati Signature

Each coin comes slabbed by PCGS with an exclusive Royal Canadian Mint Designer label hand-signed by Steven Rosati. Rosati, the designer of Canada's first King Charles III effigy, is an award-winning portrait artist and member of the Portrait Society of Canada. Renowned for his exceptional ability to capture intricate detail and emotional depth, Rosati's work has been recognized for its artistry and technical precision. He has a long history of creating iconic designs for the Royal Canadian Mint, which now includes the 2025 Canada Peace Dollar.

First Day of Issue

Each 2025 $50 Canada 5 oz Proof Silver Peace Dollar comes certified by PCGS as First Day of Issue. PCGS has also guaranteed that each coin is flawless and has a perfect grade of PR70 DCAM. On the Sheldon Grading Scale, 70 is the maximum grade a coin or medal can attain. It is only given to coins and medals with no post-production imperfections visible when viewed under 5x magnification by trained PCGS graders.

Low Mintage

With highly limited mintages, these coins are among the most exclusive Peace Dollars yet. Only 2,000 5 oz silver coins have been authorized by the Royal Canadian Mint for worldwide release.

Unique Proof Finish

With just a glance, you immediately notice that this release features more than just a simple proof finish. Traditionally, proof coins carry a beautiful array of frosted devices set against mirror-like polished fields. However, this showcases a variety of finishes used to accentuate the detail and craft of Taylor's incredible design. The stunning effect created by this technique is unlike anything else in the Peace Dollar series. The sky and ocean are treated with polished surfaces, while Lady Peace and the sand on the coastline are treated with high frost. The clouds, sun, and maple leaves Lady Peace strides atop are treated similarly to a satin finish.

Canada Peace Dollar Series

The Canada Peace Dollar, introduced in 2020, honors Lady Peace, the personification of peace inspired by the Canadian War Memorial in Ottawa, Canada. Each year features unique finishes and plating techniques that showcase the Royal Canadian Mint's innovation and craftsmanship. The series celebrates Canada's values of peace and unity. These values are reflected in Lady Peace's design, which is adorned with symbols of olive branches and maple leaves. With low mintages and exclusive design elements, the Peace Dollar series has become a favorite among collectors worldwide. In 2025, the series underwent its first major design change. Retired Senior Engraver of the Royal Canadian Mint and acclaimed numismatic artist Susan Taylor expanded her iconic Lady Peace bust into a full-body depiction, striding along Canada's coastline. This year also marked the first appearance of King Charles III's effigy on the Peace Dollar, marking a new chapter in the series.
