Coin Design
Shield Privy Mark
This set includes one coin with a special shield privy mark, making it a true standout. The privy mark commemorates the 200th anniversary of Jean Baptiste Merlen's iconic Hanoverian Royal Arms design first seen on the 1825 "shield back" Sovereign. The shield is a tribute to the Sovereign's role as a trusted symbol of strength and stability across the globe for more than 500 years.
Limited Mintage
The 2025 Silver Sovereign Proof has an extremely limited mintage of just 50,000 without the privy mark and 15,000 with the special shield privy mark. Additionally, half of the mintage for both coins is restricted to Great Britain, making these coins even rarer for collectors outside the UK.
Advance Releases
Both coins in this 2-coin set come slabbed with NGC's Royal Mint label. They are certified as Advance Releases—NGC's most-limited release designation. Each coin has also received a perfect PF 70 ULTRA CAMEO grade.
Anne Jessopp Signature
The coin featuring the shield privy mark is slabbed with NGC's exclusive Royal Mint label hand-signed by Anne Jessopp, the Chief Executive of the Royal Mint. Jessopp is renowned for her contributions to modern numismatics and leadership in overseeing innovative programs at the Royal Mint. She was pivotal in obtaining the Royal Family's approval for this historic coin.
Martin Jennings Signature
The second coin in the set is slabbed with NGC's Royal Mint label hand-signed by Martin Jennings, the designer of the King Charles III effigy. Jennings is an award-winning artist known for his meticulous craftsmanship and ability to capture fine details.
Sovereign Series
Introduced in 1489 under the reign of King Henry VII, the Sovereign has been a trusted symbol of stability, wealth, and prestige for over five centuries. Its global reputation was solidified in 1817 with the reintroduction of the Sovereign under the designs of Benedetto Pistrucci, whose iconic Saint George and the Dragon reverse remains one of the most celebrated works in numismatic history. Struck on five continents and used as a benchmark for gold coinage, the Sovereign has played a significant role in commerce and trade, becoming universally accepted as the "gold standard" of its time.
