The 2025 P $1 Proof American Silver Eagle marks the 250th Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps, uniting America's flagship silver coin with one of its proudest institutions. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin features the first-ever Marine Corps privy mark, a tribute to two-and-a-half centuries of courage and commitment.
The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman's iconic Walking Liberty, symbolizing freedom and progress. Lady Liberty strides toward the rising sun, draped in the American flag and holding branches of laurel and oak, with her right hand extended. Thanks to advanced minting technology introduced in 2021, more of Weinman's original details are now visible. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2025, along with Weinman's initials AW.
Located on the obverse is the first-ever Marine Corps privy mark, depicting the branch's historic Eagle, Globe, and Anchor emblem.
The reverse, designed by AIP Designer Emily Damstra and sculpted by U.S. Mint Engraver Michael Gaudioso, depicts a majestic bald eagle preparing to land, while clutching an oak branch, symbolizing strength, endurance, and freedom. Surrounding inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 1 OZ FINE SILVER, ONE DOLLAR, and the Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM, meaning "Out of many, one."
Each coin comes slabbed by NGC with the exclusive U.S. Mint Engraver Series Dual Signature label, hand-signed by John Mercanti and Michael Gaudioso. Each coin is also slabbed in NGC black core and graded a perfect PF70 Ultra Cameo, with the Advance Releases designation—NGC's highest pedigree.
With an extremely limited mintage of just 100,000 coins, this release is among the rarest proof Silver Eagles ever struck.
Introduced in 1986 under the Liberty Coin Act, the American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States and the most collected silver coin in the world. Originally designed by John Mercanti and featuring Adolph A. Weinman's Walking Liberty, the series symbolizes American craftsmanship and liberty. In 2021, the series underwent its first major redesign, featuring an enhanced obverse and a new reverse designed by Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso. This redesign also added advanced security features, ensuring the coin's lasting appeal and integrity for collectors worldwide.
