The 2025 1 oz Silver Superman Medal marks the launch of the U.S. Mint's Comic Art Coin and Medal Program—the first-ever series to feature officially licensed DC Comic designs.
Struck at the Philadelphia Mint from one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, this inaugural issue honors the world's most recognized hero with a stunning matte finish.
Designed by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna, the obverse features Superman in a bold pose flying above the Kent family farm. The image embodies Superman's enduring role as a symbol of hope, strength, and humility born from the American heartland.
Sculpted by U.S. Mint Medallic Artist Joseph V. Noorigian, the reverse features young Clark Kent seated on a fence, gazing toward the sky as his father looks on from a distance. A plane passes overhead, hinting at the flight and freedom that await the young hero. The rural backdrop represents Smallville and symbolizes the beginning of Clark's heroic journey.
Each coin comes with a label hand-signed by Superman himself—Dean Cain, the actor who portrayed Superman in the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.
Certified a perfect MS 70 Matte by NGC, this coin displays deeply mirrored fields and frosted reliefs. Each coin has also been designated First Day of Issue, meaning NGC received it within 24 hours of its official U.S. Mint release.
Each coin includes the U.S. Mint's original presentation case and certificate of authenticity.
The Comic Art Coin & Medal Program was created by the U.S. Mint with DC Comics to celebrate the influence of comic art in American culture. Each release features an officially licensed design struck in precious metal, combining DC's characters and storytelling with the Mint's craftsmanship to create the ultimate comic book collectible.
