2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $250 Gold Proof

The 1776-2026 President Donald J. Trump $250 Gold Proof Coin is the first U.S. gold coin to feature a sitting president. Issued for America’s 250th anniversary, this one-year-only Proof is struck at the West Point Mint from one troy ounce of .9999 fine, 24-karat gold.

The coin carries a $250 denomination introduced for the Semiquincentennial and features a portrait of President Trump by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna. The reverse uses Frank Gasparro’s Presidential Seal design with “250” added to the shield in recognition of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Coin Design

  • Obverse — Created by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna, the obverse was inspired by an official White House photograph taken by Daniel Torok.
  • Reverse — Frank Gasparro's Presidential Seal design from the Kennedy Half Dollar appears on another U.S. coin denomination for the first time. It depicts a heraldic eagle holding an olive branch and arrows, with "250" added to the shield to mark America's 250th anniversary.

A Presidential First in Gold

The 1776-2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $250 24K Gold Proof Coin is the first U.S. gold coin to feature a sitting president. Although Calvin Coolidge was the first sitting president portrayed on a U.S. coin in 1926 and President Trump was portrayed on a $1 coin earlier in 2026, this is the first gold issue to portray the commander in chief while in office.

$250 Semiquincentennial Denomination

One-ounce U.S. Mint gold coins such as the American Gold Eagle and American Gold Buffalo traditionally carry a face value of $50.

The $250 denomination first appeared in 2026 on select coins as a nod to America's 250th anniversary. This is only the second U.S. Mint gold coin to have this face value.
