The 1776-2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $250 24K Gold Proof Coin holds a unique place in U.S. coinage as the first U.S. gold coin to feature a sitting president. Issued for America's 250th anniversary, this one-year-only Proof is struck at the West Point Mint from one troy ounce of .9999 fine, 24-karat gold.
To commemorate the nation's Semiquincentennial, the coin carries a $250 denomination. Introduced in 2026, the denomination is a direct nod to the number of years since America first declared independence. This figure exceeds the $100 face value that had previously been the highest denomination on a U.S. coin.
The 1776-2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $250 24K Gold Proof Coin is the first U.S. gold coin to feature a sitting president. Although Calvin Coolidge was the first sitting president portrayed on a U.S. coin in 1926 and President Trump was portrayed on a $1 coin earlier in 2026, this is the first gold issue to portray the commander in chief while in office.
One-ounce U.S. Mint gold coins such as the American Gold Eagle and American Gold Buffalo traditionally carry a face value of $50.
The $250 denomination first appeared in 2026 on select coins as a nod to America's 250th anniversary. This is only the second U.S. Mint gold coin to have this face value.
Featuring the hand signature of U.S. Mint Director Paul Hollis.
Also included is the custom 1776 Freedom Display Case created for select Semiquincentennial releases.
Certified by NGC in PF70 Ultra Cameo, this coin also carries the Advance Releases designation, reserved for select coins made available before the U.S. Mint’s official public release.
