The 1776-2026 W Proof Gold Eagle marks a defining moment for the American Eagle Program, celebrating its 40th anniversary alongside the 250th anniversary of the United States. For the first time in the series' history, the Proof Gold Eagle carries a dual date and features a Liberty Bell Privy struck in recognition of America's Semiquincentennial. Each coin is struck at the West Point Mint in 22-karat gold and finished in proof.
